Welcome to the
online collections of the
Chestnut Hill
Historical Society

The purpose of this portion of the Chestnut Hill Historical Society’s website is to allow the public to search, view and order images available in our archives, and access information associated with them.

To use this portion of the website, there are several options.

To begin, click here. You will be directed to the “Keyword Search” page. Enter one or more search terms related to Chestnut Hill businesses, personal names, organizations, locations, etc and then click “Search.” You will then be given a list of results. We have found that this is generally one of the most effective search tools to search the online photograph collections.

You may also search by using the “Click and Search” button found on the “Keyword Search” page. You can search by alphabetical listing your topic of interest, or title. For example, should you be interested in all photographs of or associated with Germantown Avenue, click on “G” under the “Title” field and then view the results. Note: should you use the “Click and Search” function and then click and search under “Creator,” search by first name. For example, if you are searching for “Alan Worthington,” search under “A” rather than “W.”

For more detailed searches, use the “Advanced Search” button.

For a sampling of materials, click on “Random Images.”

For further information, click on “Help.”

Thanks for visiting our website—enjoy!
